Barred Surfperch (Amphistichus argenteus)


Chordata > Pisces > Actinopterygii > Perciformes > Embiotocidae


Demersal, to depths of about 70m, but usually found in surf near sandy beaches, or by rocks, pilings, or piers. Feeds mainly on sand crabs and other invertebrates. Body silver with light olive colored vertical bars; lower edge of eye above mouth. Length to about 17 inches. Baja to Central CA (3). Common (3) Marine.
