Halfmoon (Medialuna californiensis)


Chordata > Pisces > Actinopterygii > Perciformes > Kyphosidae


Demersal in rocky areas and kelp beds to depths of 40m. Body elongate and compressed, dark blue dorsally and light blue ventrally, with a dark blotch above the gill opening. Length to 19 inches. Gulf of California to Northern California (3) Common (3) Marine.
