A large freshwater turtle with a very smooth flat shell and a long pointed snout. Length to 21 inches. Native to the east coast and introduced into various locations in Southern California, including the Colorado River, Salton Sea, San Diego, the San Gabriel River, Santa Ana River, Long Beach, among others.
