Predaceous Diving Beetle (Rhantus [6 spp.])

Arthropoda > Insecta > Coleoptera > Adephaga > Dytiscidae

A genus of medium-sized (8-16mm) aquatic beetles. At least 7 species have been recorded in the state, 6 of which have been recorded from Southern California: R. anisonychus, R. atricolor, R. binotatus, R. gutticollis, R. sericans, and R. wallisi (though this list may be an incomplete representation of the Southern California fauna, and not all of the species listed may be established here).
