Muscoid Fly (Anthomyia nr. illocata)

Arthropoda > Insecta > Diptera > Calyptratae > Anthomyiidae

Anthomyia illocata is an Asian species recently introduced into and widely recorded in the eastern USA, but there don't appear to be any records west of the rocky mountains. To further complicate matters, several flies in the family Muscidae, such as Limnophora, are similar. As such, the flies presented here are very tentatively placed.
