Wolf-eel (Anarrhichthys ocellatus)


Chordata > Pisces > Actinopterygii > Perciformes > Anarhichadidae


Demersal to depths of around 200m in rocky subtidal areas where they are predatory on smaller fish and invertebrates. Body elongate, eel-like, mottled gray, length to 7 feet. Dorsal and anal fin very long, with 200+ rays each; no pelvic fins and reduced caudal fin. San Diego to Alaska (3) Common (3) Marine.
